End of 2017

Oh wow, it's that time of the year again. You know, the one where we reflect back on our resolutions and see how the mighty have fallen. I just read my post from last year before starting this one. I was right! I forgot all of my resolutions! I get the gist of what they were and I am having the feeling that I should be greatly disappointed in myself; I didn't do squat this year.

This year was meh to be honest. I only got around to uploading three videos (oops), and I have three on my queue that I was to do this winter break which is almost over (double oops). But to be honest, changing lifestyles is tricky. I have been trying to get these handful of projects that I have been rambling on for awhile now out, but I just don't have the motivation. College does that kinda stuff ya know.

This coming year I hope to do a lot more. I have had a taste of what college is like, and it is one that is a lot more manageable than I had thought. Hopefully life sucks a little bit less this coming year and I can get out more than three videos. I do have lots of ideas, I just can't get around to doing them. Sad day.

I will be tossing together and end of year video (it will be short, I can tell you that much. Perhaps I'll throw in a couple previews of what is coming next). 

So what can you expect coming this year? At least hopefully? What will we see by the end of it??????

Probably some college film stuff. Unfortunately I haven't made any films yet, but that will change. You will definitely see that animatic I've been talking about and the audio book. I also want to do some more fun stuff, maybe a few stuff with Johnny Backseed. Don't ask me.

Well, as this illusion known as 2017 heads home for the holidays and the illusion of time spreads her legs to birth 2018 into this disgraceful world, we can only hope for things to get better. I'll still be around if I'm lucky. Enjoy the rest of the year and see you in the next one.

9 Years On YouTube

Yes, I know that pesky watermark is still in the corner of that gif but you know who cares? Not me.

What's exciting (for me anyways) is that it is my 9th year on YouTube. (This tenacious little cockroach doesn't know when to just die) Yup, nine years and just about nothing of quality to show for it! Coolio! Despite doing very little this year nonetheless, I do have a few tricks up my sleeve before the year is done.

I've mentioned something before about an audiobook I was working on with another actor. That is nearing completion. There have been a few snags delaying its release (which was set earlier this month) but I hope to have it fully completed and uploaded early December at the latest.

I've also mentioned an animatic that I was working on. The drawing portion is completely finished, right now I'm in the process of recording for it. It was supposed to be done a long time ago, but hey, quality over speed (as if I should be talking about quality). I won't be able to record until mid-December but I should be able to finish it by the year's end.

Next up on this momentous occasion is some (potential) upcoming projects. Yipee. More crap!

I still have some ideas floating around. I may have mentioned something about creating another Dead Air FM (I can't be bothered to look right now). If I mentioned it, cool, you can hear about it again. If not, SURPRISE! It's really nothing more than a thought right now. I have some ideas for it (living on a college campus really puts you in some unique experiences, to say the least). Not sure when this will happen. My break between fall and spring semester will hopefully be enough for me to function creatively (or just waste it all on nothing).

I've also been toying around with an idea for writing a completely new project. It's nothing but a twinkle in my eye at this moment but I'm hoping to at least get started on some ideas soon. I really don't have much to say about this particular thing because I have no idea what it is about yet.

I also have purchased supplies for a clay animation. Maybe something will come out of that. I'm planning on doing something somewhat abstract just to get a feel for the medium.

Looking into the distant possibility ideas... By chance have you heard about the movie I was making for my (infamous) Pepper and Kad series I made when I was just a lad? Probably not, unless you've stuck around for some time (don't put yourself through the misery of finding out what I mean). I just so happened to fall upon the notebook that I wrote the story in. Good Lord 'twas possibly the most atrocious thing I have ever laid me eyes upon. It was bad. Not even to the point of being so bad it's good. Nonetheless, I am loosely thinking about potentially turning it into something. If you've stuck around you probably would have noticed that I planned to animate the whole thing and make it a big deal. No way in hell will that happen. But, maybe I could cheesily narrate the thing and show the crude little storyboards in the margins and put my now disowned brainchild onto the interwebs to haunt me forever! Moral of the story is, please stay in school. If this were to happen, it might be awhile.

Despite the year looking a bit slim on videos (in my defense, two of them are super long so fight me), there are some more content on the way. It has been that way for 9 years and will probably continue until I croak (that's a horrifying thought). So stick around if you care. I know you do ;)

Happy 9 years to me! I had to live with myself for all these years through thick and thin so I think I deserve to give myself some credit.

What Is a Title?

Hey y'all!
So, I pretty much just dropped off the face of the Earth for a few months. Ya know, college life and stuff. It's amazing. Because of this, I don't have much to upload. Cuz, living in a tiny dorm room several hours away from home and being away from everything kinda puts a halt on productivity. Nonetheless, I do have a few things in the works.

So, that short story I mentioned in the last post? Yeah, that's in the works. I've had dozens of auditions to listen through and I was able to find a person who fits the character. Right now lines are being exchanged and my hope is to have the story completed and uploaded in early November.

Last year I briefly experimented with animatics, the biggest being "Gallow's Woods" that I uploaded on Halloween. I've decided to continue with animatics and I'm working on one now. It's supposed to be my Halloween video, but since I won't be able to record any audio before then, it will be released sometime in November. I don't have a name for it but it's about a guy who falls in love with a sketchy person, his friend tries to stop him, he proceeds to see this person and then is in great poopoo. Sound good? Probably not, but I'll try to make it work.... and regret what I made in a few years from now.

Remember how I talked about ending my Dead Air FM series? Well, I miss it... a lot actually. I would love to return to it as soon as I can cuz inspiration hit. Living on a college campus, you run into a lot of stupidity that is just so fun to turn into jokes. I am also finding that I have more free time that I thought I would have so I may just have to return to the series.

Chillin' After Dead Air FM

Whaddup?
After, probably hell on earth (AKA, editing Dead Air FM) I finally finished the finale! (Cue fireworks and cheering). Click here to watch it. You better watch it. I worked hard on this.

After, what seemed like endless hours of editing, screaming in a microphone, screaming at other people, and being unpleasant, it's finally over. Now, I will flee off to a magical place and have a much needed vacation.

This was a horrible blog post, but who cares? Not me. I'm leaving you suckers for a bit to recuperate. Byee

Summer Update!

Hooray for updates!
I only got a few weeks before I head off into my freshman year in college (woo?). What have I done this summer? A little bit actually. I'll get into that, so kick back, relax, and drink some tea while I ramble off some update you don't really care about!

So, it is July now and I have all the free time in the world, yet I still have yet to upload something. But let me tell you something, getting used to the transition from your comfortable high school life at home to some scary place in the middle of nowhere far away from help isn't easy. Essentially, my mind is in a lot of places in recent times and as much time as possible to get myself together. While I am excited about all the (horrible) stuff I will be able to do, leaving everything and everyone behind isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world. Nonetheless, I've still been productive.

So for the past month, I have been working on Dead Air FM (or Johnny Backseed 9). It is coming along nicely. I was super motivated just last week to do it, now I am on the brink of death. So, once I drag myself together, expect to see it soon. It is sounding awesome so far, and as always my fellow minions, er, actors and actresses have been delivering stellar work. It's awesome too as it is the finale (what?!).

Yes, I unfortunately have to end the series (or will I?). Basically, with college approaching, I won't be able to work on it. Not necessarily because of the workload (although that will suck) but mostly because I won't be able to record in a dorm room. Probably the last thing anyone wants to hear is my wacky characters screaming at each other. Otherwise, if I ever have the opportunity to return to it, I will take it. Just in case however, I wrote this one as the finale and used some super secret and genius tactics to justify if there ever is a future epiosde.

While that is in the near future, I have started something else (GASP). I decided to take a break from script writing and focus more on a whole story. I ended up with a 10 page novella called "My Office Job." It is about a pessimistic man who barely graduated high school getting a job at an office. While at the office, he finds a mysterious letter in the trash and realizes that something spooky is going on. I surprisingly don't despise it, therefore I am working on a dramatic reading of it. While I originally planned to record myself reading it, my frustration due to my voice quite frankly not fitting what I had in mind led to me opening a casting call. So, once I find a voice for this project, expect to see that soon.

Otherwise. I got nothing! Yipee! Two things!

What's going on in my life?

Guess who just remembered he had a blog! This guy!

So, it's been half a year and I only uploaded two videos! :D That's exciting! However, the reason for such inactivity is not because I'm slacking off or giving up on my projects and everything of that sort; quite the opposite actually. Normally when I say that I'm utilizing my time wisely that's just my way of saying "I haven't done anything whatsoever, fight me" but I actually mean it this time. There is a reason for this:

I've been accepted as an animation Major into MSUM

Now, I know what you're thinking; you've seen my "animations" from two years ago and are very concerned. Listen, I watch those videos and feel concerned for me too. But I will say this, I have progressed a lot since then. The reason why I have been so inactive is that I'm spending a lot of my time improving my skills. While my Youtubes have not been showing much activity, in the meantime I'm filling sketchbooks (and all of my wall space) with some (not-so) fancy artwork. I'm beginning to cringe just a tiny bit less at myself, which I feel is a step in the right direction.

So what is in store for the future of the channel?

Glad you asked! The most basic answer is: not much :). I'm working on another Johnny Backseed (what?) which I would like to get out sometime this summer (what?). Sadly, it will probably be the last one due to going to school for some good ol' knowledge. But who knows. So there is not much in store for my channel, but if you'll miss me that much, I do update my Instagram quite frequently. If you want to see my futile attempts at improvement, give that a looksies. Otherwise, keep an eye out for Johnny Backseed and whatever I can whip up this summer. Over the next few years I would love to post my college films so be sure to see that. Maybe college will help me figure out what I'm doing.

You know, it's nice knowing that I have a blog to spew out some of the ramblings in my mind. Perhaps I should update it more often? (Psyche)

P.S: I also made a Tumblr account (that I'll actually use) cuz I'm an edgy hipster. I don't know how often I'll get around to using it, but it's there.
