End of 2018

Fortunately, life sucked a little bit less this year so more stuff came out than the last one. That said, this will be a quick wittle bitty update - cuz I said all that needs to be said already!

This year was great a bunch of stuff came out and I got all that I was hoping to get out of this year. Moving into this next year will be even better. I'll have more stuff that will hopefully be even better than my previous stuff (can't get much worse right?). Ya know, there's a bunch of stuff I have sitting around that's wrapping up. It takes awhile to do these things cuz haha life!

So yeah, this next year will have a bunch of new stuff. Big tings are on the way. Big tings.

So here's to another new year. Can't believe it's here already. Ya know. Not sure how many I'll have left!

Wow New Stuff!

A lot of that new stuff I've been harping about is finally out!

First off is an animated film. Click here to watch it. It's a 16mm film called Mental. Essentially myself along with another person drew and painted on top of 16mm, ran it through a projector and synced it to music. All editing (cuts and animation and all that jazz) were done analog with a splicer and tape. This is the result. Fun fact: this project was plan B after what we had originally filmed came out blank after processing. Most of what you see is found footage with our drawings on top, but here and there you can see faint images from our original project.

Second is another 16mm film (which actually turned out after processing). Click here to watch it. Gone Bananas has likely been the most difficult project I've worked on. Shot with a Bolex camera, then edited digitally. This film won Best Screenwriting at a local juried exhibition so that's awesome! It was also my first time creating film score so that's cool as well!

Lastly, there's another big project that's been in the works for a long time now. Click here to read it. I just released it yesterday, but it's my webcomic. The first episode is up. It's a bit old so my drawing skills and writing skills and all that jazz aren't the greatest, but I feel it does a good job at kicking off the series. The first episode is in color to get a feel at what the characters look like and that, but the future episodes will be black and white to save me the pain of having to do all that coloring.

With that, there's a lot more on the way. There's several projects I've started that I'm now wrapping up so I'll post updates whenever those come out.

10 Years!

Welp. Today my channel has hit its tenth year of existence. That's over half my life up to this point. Normally I have something planned each year for this day, but not this time! It's cool though because there's a bunch of new stuff on the way (I keep saying that but where is it?). Just know that by the end of next month, there'll be a lot of stuff coming out. I won't reveal everything, but I will say that two new short films are coming out in the next week. That's for certain. So here's to ten years on the internet. Boy, it felt like an eternity to get to this point.

SUMMER!!! [Update]

It's finally summer! (Well has been for awhile now, but I haven't actually posted anything at all this entire season).

I've created a new Tumblr that I've been pretty active on. YouTube has kinda been put on the backburner, but I've got some stuff out there this summer and there's something HUGE I have up my sleeve coming in the near future.

So yeah! This has been a pretty productive summer. I finally got a new tablet so I can make digital art again (the other one was so old that I couldn't find a driver for it, so I was on hiatus from that for like 5 years). In other news I also got some new programs to play around with. So I've got SOMETHING to make animation with finally. I also got some 3D modeling software and some other artsy related stuff. I've pretty much moved from YouTube as my primary platform to Tumblr (and somewhat Instagram). So the best way to keep up with my stuff is through those.

Some other news is that I'm moving back to school in a week. This will open up a lot of opportunities for collaboration this fall (as the stuff I've been doing recently is more individual work). There'll be tons of new art, and at least 3 more short films on the way. Besides that, I do have a couple of huge projects that I've been doing throughout the summer that will see the light of day really soon. So stay tuned for those, I've kept a low profile on them but they're close to finished.

So stay tuned! I'll post updates when I can along the way. Some big innovations will be taking place from now through the end of the year that will kick things up a notch.

Some Jazzy New Content

Yo yo yo.

So, summer has arrived (for me at least) which was a great opportunity to crack at some stuff that I had laying around.

I mentioned before that I could have won an award for my "Life of Dirt" film... and I did! Best Mixed media in the entire exhibtion. Woot!

But, to get back to why I made this post in the first place, I got new stuff! The first is a music video that I made. I haven't done one these (or at least one of any sort of quality before) so I decided "why not?" I found a song off the Free Music Archive and made some animations and ran around filming stuff for it. I used it to experiment a bit with chroma key (since all the animation in it is done traditionally) and to also practice going handheld (I almost always use a tripod which gets boring after awhile). Click here to see it. I'm not affiliated with the band or anything, I just had an idea for the song and went with it.

The second thing I posted was one of those experimental films I harped about a couple months ago. Ya know, the one I said would come out in a couple weeks? Yeah, that one. The nature one to be specific (I haven't touched the other one in awhile so it's on my queue). It's experimental so it looks a bit weird, but it was for fun. Click here to watch that one.

As far as other stuff goes, I do have a few things in the works. Probably not for this channel however, but there's stuff I am working on. Probably that other experimental film is the only thing that you'll be seeing (if that turns out decently enough). Otherwise, no need to fret because I am planning on making some stuff specifically for this channel (animated too). So don't leave me yet.

Wow! Another New Thing!

Wazzup y'all!

End of the school year. Woot! Been a long, long, year. As promised however, I have the third film I've been preaching about. Click here to watch it. It is my final project for my video production class.

A few posts ago I mentioned how my tree film was nominated for an award; something my college does. All three of my projects for the class reached eligibility for that whole juried screening process. Being that I could only choose one, I went with my final project (Life of Dirt). After four hours of films, my video was selected to be in the end of the semester exhibition (rad). Sooooo, that means that it could win an award for something, but I won't find out until the exhibition. Cool.

My Film Is Nominated For an Award!

Heyooo!
I lied a little bit. I said I was going to have a couple things be coming out in the next couple weeks. Turns out there will only be one (because it's a class assignment so I have to get it out on time!) The rest of the semester will be a bit crazy with filming for class projects so after the one that will come out on Wednesday (wait what?) I will have to immediately jump into my next project. So those two experimental films I talked about will be delayed a bit.

The good news is that the the tree film I made got nominated for an award. Nothing prestigious - rather it's a campus only thing - but still, that's cool. As of now, that is the only film I made that is eligible (it's my first one, so I have nothing else as of yet). But, the next two films I'm working on could be potentially nominated for the same award, the only drawback being that I can only enter one film in per semester. What is this award that I am nominated for? Well, I don't know. It has to be judged first. It was just selected for judging (which is rad).

Otherwise, keep on the lookout for new stuff.

Some New Stuff Coming Up

What? New stuff? Yay! I'm actually doing something for once in my life!

On a more serious note, yes, there are a few new things in the work. Not one, not two, but three!

What are they? Glad you asked! First one will be an actual sequence. This one is a class project that makes the "ordinary extraordinary" and is a maximum of 1 minute in length. This will be exciting (hopefully). More details later, but expect to see it relatively soon.

Secondly, I have two experimental films in the work. What are experimental films? They are essentially pretentious artsy films that don't have a clear narrative; some cool looking shots with cool looking editing for pizzazz to provide excess stimulation to feeble minds. One will be on nature; just a collection of pretty nature shots. The other will be one of cities. These two aren't assignments or anything, just some good practice projects to help me develop my filmmaking skills; they give me good experience to work with some fancier editing software as well as challenge me to think outside of traditional narrative. Most of all though, it's plain fun. I mean, shooting outside saves tons of time on setting up? Right?!

I may have lied, I do have a fourth project but you won't see that for a while. It's to finish off the semester, so expect that to come out before May, everything else that I had mentioned will come out within the next couple weeks.

New Film!

Like I had mentioned before, I have had a couple things up my sleeves. Specifically college films. After about 8+ hours of filming and 10+ hours of straight editing, I finally finished my first one. It's an experimental film about trees and the environment. Neat. To watch it, click here. I have two more on the way by the beginning of May and I also might just get a few things out before then. My Office Job

Well, it's getting towards the end of January and I finally uploaded my first video of the year! (Hooray for me).

This is one that I have been harping on about for awhile. You know the audiobook? Yeah, I finally got around to releasing that. It's a bit different than what I usually do, but it was nice to try something different. Click here to watch it (or die).

As for new content, I still have a couple things in the works. I've taken a break from working on that animatic until I can figure out where I want to go with it. Even though the visuals and the voices are only thing I need to do, it can be a bit tricky to decide what exactly I want for that.

I mentioned something last summer about college films. While I have been very sporadic in my uploads and often go long periods of time without uploading, I can guarantee by early May that there will be at least three new videos (which are class assignments). I'm also working on a few other things as well.

I will probably shake some things up this year. I know that the past two years have been pretty much just voice over stuff, and before that were several years of cringy animations, but this year will be different (or so I tell myself). Since I am studying both film and animation in college, I'm going to be focusing quite a bit more on my filmmaking skills. This will be exciting as although I haven't uploaded much animations in the past couple years (along with no actual film work), I have been working on some things on the sidelines quite a bit. Film has been pretty enjoyable to work with and soon I will have some things that I feel like would be safe to upload.

So while I yammer away about hopes and aspirations that I will probably never actually get around to in the end, stick around. I might actually be productive this time.
